Does your teenager want to do well at school, yet still struggle with concentration, overwhelm or exam anxiety?
Many parents assume these challenges are a motivation issue. Often they are not.
Many HSC students are studying hard and genuinely wanting to succeed. Yet they find themselves reading the same page repeatedly, struggling to retain information, putting off study, feeling overwhelmed, unable to switch off at night and “freezing” during an exam.
Why? Because when stress levels become too high, the brain begins prioritising survival over learning. The thinking part of the brain responsible for focus, memory, planning and problem-solving genuinely becomes harder to access. Students often know the information but struggle to retrieve it under pressure. With stress, our nervous system prioritises safety and vigilance over study and concentration!
Think of it like a computer with too many programs running in the background. The system slows down. Certain parts of our brain, the higher order parts, literally can go offline for certain periods of time.
So I created these timely 45-minute HSC Support Sessions, which are designed to help students regulate their nervous system so they can access the knowledge and abilities they already have .
These sessions are gentle, practical and will be tailored to each student’s individual needs. As a whole, common areas we work with include:
- Exam anxiety & Study overwhelm
- Confidence and Self Belief
- Focus and Concentration
- Poor sleep
- Emotional pressure and expectations
As both a parent of a high school senior student and a practitioner who works with young people, I fully understand the pressures that students/families face during the HSC years. So let me me help them through this tough time.
Suitable for Year 11 and Year 12 students and Uni students of course.
